May Day, also known as International Workers' Day, is coming up and we are urging our members to attend the May Day events in your area. There are events at most locations across the country, and here in Oregon:
There are also several other events happening across the state. We are asking our locals’ members to participate in these important actions if possible. We support a community-led day of action and are not calling for a strike. We are hoping our members can choose to coordinate personal leave, sick time, or shift-swaps so that they can attend.
With Viktor Orbán’s election loss in Hungary, we are seeing a global shift away from the populism that is threatening our democracies. It’s time to demonstrate that workers in the US are also rejecting the anti-worker and anti-immigrant policies of the current administration.
We hope to see you on the streets on May Day!
