2026 Primary Election Voter's Guide

Bottom-up Endorsement Process

AFT-Oregon 2026 Voter's Guide

AFT-Oregon’s political power is built by members like yourself, at your local workplace union. Each one of these Primary Endorsements was championed by locals across the state who interviewed, questioned, educated, and finally endorsed candidates.

This year endorsements were given to candidates and uplifted by AFT-Oregon from five locals: HCU, PCCFFAP, PSU-AAUP, UAUO, and GTFF.

The Oregon State Legislature is where important budget decisions are made, such as how much money our schools, community colleges, and universities receive from the state from year to year to fund our students' educations and the jobs of union members. Beyond the education budget, the issues decided by this state body are vast: healthcare, housing, transportation, climate mitigation and adaptation, and so much more. These issues affect each of us and we are here to make sure that our voices are heard in Salem. We work with elected officials along with labor and community partners to develop a strong education agendas for Oregon Legislative Sessions.

Open and Contested State Primaries

There are several open or contested competitive Democratic primary races where AFT-Oregon members can support union endorsed candidates. We believe that union endorsements show where working people will truly be represented in the legislature, and electing the right leaders in primary elections will have years or decades of impact.

City and County Races

Labor power is built at every level of government. AFT-Oregon locals have weighed in on the following city and county primary election votes.

Endorsed Incumbents

Our locals also build strong relationships with incumbents through primary endorsement processes, forming a bridge between union priorities and lawmakers’ policy initiatives.
